Virginia Intermediate School

Ms. Trent has eighteen years of teaching experience. This year, she'll be teaching 3rd Grade Math and Science. Her favorite colors are blue and green. She likes peach tea, chocolate, and spending time with her family. Ms. Trent's hobbies include cross fit, crafting, and riding the trails on the side by side. She's so excited to meet new faces this year!

Mrs. Jessee worked five years as a math interventionist before starting this year as a new teacher. She'll be teaching 4th Grade Math and Science for VIS. Her favorite color is teal, and favorite food/drinks include pasta, Mountain Dew, and Little Debbie cakes. She also likes cats. Mrs. Jessee''s hobbies include spending time with her family, reading, and crafting. This year, she is so excited to be in her own classroom and hopes to make it a place where students feel at home and find learning fun. She can't wait to see that "light bulb" moment when a student's face when they "get" something. She says that's what makes the long hours and hard work all worth it.

Ms. Stophel has five years of teaching experience. She'll be teaching 3rd Grade Math and Science this year. Her favorite color is purple. She loves coffee, the Vols, and Star Wars. Her hobbies include reading, shopping, and spending time with her daughter. Ms. Stophel is so excited to see the kids' reaction to their new school and to watch them build new relationships.

Ms. Harmon has 28 years of teaching experience. She'll be teaching 2nd Grade. Ms. Harmon's favorite things include her family, iced coffee, Mello Yello, and ANY kind of food! Her hobbies include traveling with family, sewing, doing crafts, and sign language. She's super excited about getting to know her students!

Meet Our PE Teacher! Mrs. Jacobsen has four years of teaching experience. She and Coach Z will be the two Physical Education teachers for VIS. Her favorites include coffee, Pizza Inn, ice cream, playing jokes on other teachers, and going on golf cart rides. She also loves PE, running shoes, Lady Vols Basketball, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Jacobsen's hobbies include camping, running, riding four wheelers, bike riding, and going on family adventures. This year, she's most excited to see her previous students and meet new students. She looks forward to having fun in PE!

Meet Mrs. Branson! Mrs. Branson will teach 3rd Grade this year and has 21 years of teaching experience. Her favorite things include coffee, Target, dogs, baseball, and golf. Mrs. Branson's hobbies are shopping and spending time with family. She's looking forward to an AMAZING year with her students in the brand-new school!

Meet Mrs. Henson! Mrs. Henson has 25 years of teaching experience. This year, she'll be working students in 3rd grade. Her favorite activities include traveling, playing/watching sports, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Henson's hobbies include walking and working puzzles. She's so excited to work with her new students and their families. And she's excited about the beautiful new building!

Ms. Powers has six years of teaching experience. She'll be teaching 4th Grade this year. Her favorite colors are purple and blue, and she loves Chinese food. Ms. Powers' hobbies include hiking, gardening, and weekends with her grandchildren. She's so excited to meet her new students and to see how much they will achieve.

Ms. Brown has four years of teaching experience. She'll be teaching 2nd Grade Reading this year. Her favorite color is green and she loves Mexican food. She also like Halloween, volleyball, and her sweet family (including her cute pups). Ms. Brown's hobbies include thrifting, reading, and refinishing furniture. She's so excited about meeting and learning with her new students!

Meet Our School Psychologist! Mrs. Reynolds-Byrd is serving BVPS students in every grade. She really enjoys Dunkin', Berry Bowls, and being outside with her boys. Her hobbies include party planning, balloons, and food. When she's not working, she enjoys life in Hot Wheels City with her boys. She's so excited to see all the smiling faces she knows on one campus.

Meet Mrs. Kestner! Mrs. Kestner has 21 years of teaching experience. She'll be teaching 5th grade this year. Her favorite color is pink and she loves ice coffee. Her hobbies include reading and walking her doodle, Minnie. Mrs. Kestner is most excited to meet all of her new students this year.

She's Music to Our Ears! Mrs. Edwards has taught for 26 years. She'll be teaching Music at VIS. She likes the color yellow and anything sparkly. Her favorites include pizza, chocolate, berry bowls, and Diet Dr. Pepper. Mrs. Edwards's hobbies include exercising with friends, being outside, praise and worship, and spending time with friends and family. This year, she's most excited to make new friends, meet new kids and their families, and to have a HUGE music room. She's also thrilled to have a set location and not have to travel to different schools.

Meet Ms. Owens! Ms. Owens is beginning her teaching career with us and we are thrilled. She'll be teaching 3rd Grade Reading and Social Studies. She likes the color blue, going to Target, walking with her dog, and iced coffee. Ms. Owens's hobbies include baking and hiking. She is so excited to meet her students!

Welcome Ms. White! Ms. White has been in education for two years. This year, she’ll assist in reading. She loves all things pink, loves the beach, and loves to eat at Texas Roadhouse. Shopping is her all-time favorite hobby! She’s most excited to build new relationships with the kids at VIS and to watch them grow.

The Bearcat Athletic Department will host a required Student-Athlete Parent Meeting-on Thursday, August 15th at 6:30pm in the VHS Auditorium. This meeting will have valuable information for all athletes and their parents regardless of their participation season. Fall sports will break out for their respective team meetings after the department meeting. On Friday, August 16, 2024 you are cordially invited to our Fall Meet The Bearcats and V-T Football Scrimmage. Gates Open 5pm with team intros at beginning at 5:45pm at Gene Malcolm Stadium. The scrimmage is slated to start at 7:30pm. Donations will be accepted at the gates to benefit both teams. Concessions and Bearcat Merchandise will be sold and other activities will be available. Come out to support all of our fall-student athletes.

Ms. Marlow Meet Ms. Marlow! She will teach 2nd grade and brings seven years of experience. She has a sweet tooth and likes cheese and sushi. Ms. Marlow’s hobbies include reading and knitting. She also enjoys spending time with her family and their dog Louise. She’s excited to work with students from all over Bristol in an amazing new building!

Meet Ms. Hagerman Ms. Hagerman started with BVPS last year. She’ll teach Math and Science this year. She loves Disney World, plants, and her favorite food is subs. Her hobbies are traveling, gardening, and spending time with family. She’s excited to make memories with her students this year!

Meet Ms. Snider Ms. Snider will work with students in special education this year. She’s taught for three years. Her favorite color is red. She loves French toast and all breakfast foods. Her favorite drinks are coffee and Coke Zero. She also roots for the University of Tennessee. Go Vols! Her hobbies include coaching softball, being outside, and spending time with family. Ms. Snider is excited for everyone at VIS to work together to support students and create memories.

Please be aware that traffic patterns have changed on the elementary campus for Virginia Primary and Intermediate due to the opening of Virginia Intermediate. Meet Ms. Gammon Ms. Gammon has taught a whooping 34 years! This year, she’ll teach Science and Social Studies. Her favorite color is green. Her favorite foods are pizza and steak. Ms. Gammon’s hobbies include family activities and watching movies. This year, she is excited to build relationships with her students.
