The Bristol Virginia School Division operates a sequential K-12 program, consisting of one primary school serving pre-kindergarten through first grade, one intermediate school serving grades two through five, a middle school serving grades six through eight, and a comprehensive high school serving grades nine through twelve. All schools are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The division's annual budget for the 2023-2024 school year is $46,016,544 with a per pupil expenditure of $22,217.

Our school district provides a wide range of educational programs to meet the needs of all students, including those in special education, gifted education, and Tech Prep. Through our 1:1 Initiative, students in Pre-K through 1st grade receive iPads, while grades 2-12 are equipped with Dell laptops to support personalized learning and enriched content. In addition to core subjects, Virginia Middle School offers Spanish, Algebra 1, and Geometry. All our schools have excellent art and music programs led by specialist instructors.

Virginia High School provides a robust academic program designed to prepare students for a variety of paths after graduation. Students looking to pursue a college degree can enroll in Advanced Placement (AP) classes in core subjects like English, history, science, and math. Virginia High School also partners with Virginia Highland Community College to offer dual enrollment courses, allowing students to earn college credit while still in high school.

For those interested in a more specialized education, Virginia High School offers a range of outstanding career and technical education (CTE) programs. These programs, which include marketing, culinary arts, and programming, provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to enter the workforce directly after graduation.

Virginia High School’s commitment to academic excellence is reflected in its impressive graduation rate. Over 79% of graduates continue their education at two or four-year colleges.

Class sizes average approximately 17 students at the elementary level, 18 at the middle school level, and 15 at the high school level.

Bristol Virginia schools boast a dedicated team of over 200 educators, including teachers, counselors, librarians, and specialists, all working together to provide each child with the best possible education. Nearly half (44%) of the certified staff hold master's degrees, and Bristol Virginia teachers bring an average of over 15 years of valuable classroom experience to the table.
